1. The first part of this final report is a bibliometric analysis of your chosen journal in Assignment 1.

 

The subject of the first portion of this project will be the journal:

All data in this exercise was obtained using the ISI Web of Science and ISI Journal Citation Report databases (ISI Web of Knowledge, copyright 2002, ISI, Inc.)

These are all the documents that have been published in this journal since the inception of a name change in 1997.

 

 

What this indicates is a steady level of productivity from this journal. The number of items fluctuates, but is fairly high for a journal with only 8 volumes per year and remains at or near the same level over time. This also would indicate that the output is being held at this rate deliberately, which could have a number of connotations. With such a narrowly focused subject area I would interpret it to mean that the publishers are attempting to keep the articles on point and the quality high, aiming for substance over quantity. But further examination would be required to determine the definitive cause.
